The ‘Envelop’ Series: Streaming Platforms Meet the Boutique – An Experiment

Forest's chants

Blending accessibility with quality by releasing the first two ‘Envelop’ albums on streaming platforms while offering the uncompressed versions exclusively in the Flower of Sound Boutique.

The two albums, Envelop, Etherial Flower, and Envelop, Forest’s Chant, are from the back catalog, originally composed for chill-out areas at festivals. Spatial audio in the ambient genre remains underrepresented, and this release aims to fill that gap while allowing listeners to experience spatial formats. Soon more current ambient albums will be released.

Streaming service versus Boutique

This release is also an experiment—an opportunity to understand how streaming platforms handle spatial audio and how listeners engage with it.

Streaming and Dolby Atmos: services such as Apple Music, Tidal, and Amazon Music rely on compressed formats to deliver Dolby Atmos content, reducing the required bandwidth while providing immediate access to an extensive immersive music catalog. However, compression inevitably leads to a loss in audio detail compared to the original masters.

That’s why we believe it’s crucial to make our catalog available in uncompressed spatial formats, like FLAC Hi-Res or Dolby Atmos TrueHD, for those seeking the highest level of acoustic realism and every subtle nuance of sound. Moreover, digital downloads let you truly own the file, all while respecting the work’s copyright—a solution combining the freedom to listen with uncompromised quality.

With this dual-release strategy, we aim to showcase the value of high-resolution formats while making Sonic tools accessible to a broader audience. Both albums are available now at a special introductory price at the boutique.
